About Indy

Indy is a 7 month old blue heeler / australian kelpie mix. She is very high energy and loves to run, play with toys, and explore outside. She knows most basic commands, as well as being crate trained for nights & when I'm not home. She is mostly housetrained with the occasional accident but we are still working on this. She is spayed, up to date on shots, and microchipped. Indy is very protective of her owner & is not a fan of strangers or other animals getting too close, so she would need to be the only animal in the home. She gets very stressed with new people, and often redirects this into barking / growling & trying to bite. She has improved a lot in her reactivity, she is showing a lot of impulse control with strangers passing by as long as they don't come too close, but still needs someone willing to put in the effort to work with her on training. She does show a lot of aggression towards people she doesn't know who try to approach, as well as other animals, so she would do best in a quieter home that doesn't have a lot of people visiting & going in or out, with a yard she can run around in and not be constantly stressed about other animals passing by. Introducing her to new people is difficult due to her reactivity, and she is working on getting accustomed to a muzzle. She is very treat motivated and is usually able to redirect her attention from a person or animal with the right one. She can be a complete sweetheart who loves cuddles and tennis balls but as I have a cat she has shown aggression to, my lifestyle and home isn't the right environment for her and I'm really hoping to find someone who can help her with these problems more than I'm currently able to. She can be difficult at times but I really believe that with consistent training she can improve so much more than she already has, especially considering how young she is. She needs an owner who is aware of her challenges, and has the time to devote to her training, because I know she can be much happier than she is in her current environment.
