About Sir

Adoption Fee: $200
Siberian Husky / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hi, my name is Sir! I'm still getting used to my new name as I came to my fosters with no tags or ID. I'm a very sweet and loyal boy but I have had a ruff life that has made me fearful and alert constantly. I am nervous around new humans but I am not aggressive. I take a while to warm up to men (probably abused) so I would prefer my forever person to be a kind and gentle natured woman. I feel safest around women. I have been housed with a 10 week old puppy which took me a minute to get used to but I have adjusted very well and have learned to play gently with the puppy and tolerate all his annoying behavior. When I was found I was very itchy with fleas but my fosters have taken care of them and I am much happier. Sadly, I am heartworm positive and I will require my next owner to maintain the treatment my foster has me on as well as regular follow-up vet appointments. I'm a very smart boy but my previous owners did not train me so I don't know any commands, but if you tell me 'no' 'hey!' or 'uh-uh' I know to stop doing whatever I'm up to. I enjoy going on walks with the person I trust but I have not been socialized with other animals on our walks so I don't know how I may react. I am mainly housetrained but have had a few accidents when I get too excited and attempt to assert dominance by marking on the puppy's things. That shouldn't be a problem once I am neutered though! I would do best in a house where I am the only dog but if I am able to receive specialized training and extra attention, I wouldn't mind having a pack of other dogs to learn from. I'm still learning how to play and enjoy being a dog but I do like to chew on bully sticks, nyla-bones, and other chew toys. I love getting ear scratches and belly rubs and will always be by your side awaiting your affection. My foster calls me a shadow because I am very attached to her and get very anxious when separated. I'll need someone who won't be gone for more than a few hours at a time and has a lot of patience to train me to learn to be okay on my own. I know I may sound like a lot of work but I promise I am a very good boy and I will be your most loyal friend. From the foster: If you are interested in providing a forever home and a beautiful life for this sweet boy, please reach out. I would love to keep him, but he requires more attention and training than I am able to give him since I have a new puppy. He is updated on his shots and is currently taking prescription antibiotics for his heartworm treatment and will require a monthly administration of his heartworm medicine. It can take a long time for the heartworms to be fully treated and the medicine is not cheap. We will provide you with what's left of his 6-month dosage supply, but if you don't have the funds to upkeep his treatment for a long period of time please do not contact about adopting him. Heartworms are very serious and his quality of life will be greatly affected and he will eventually die if they are not managed. He is currently unneutered, however we are trying to make an appointment at the clinic so it may be done before adoption. If you have any questions about this beautiful boy or are interested in adopting him, please email me at [email protected].
