About Gabe

Hi, my name is Gabe and I am a 1 1/2 year old Pit Bull Terrier. My story is a long one for such a young pup. I was originally found by my person in a nearby animal shelter. It was love at first sight, a perfect match. I was so happy to have found my forever home. My owner and I used to run, ride bikes and hike everyday. Then about three months ago, my owner had to move out of his house, therefore rendering us homeless. Because of my looks, no one wanted to let my owner keep me with him, so he surrendered me to the Martinez Animal Shelter, who immediately placed me into an 'adopt only by rescue' unit. At that point, my chances of survival were slim. After some research, my owner found someone willing to foster me until he could once again take me home with him. My owner reclaimed me from the shelter and took me to Camp Bow Wow Brentwood, where I am currently staying. Just before I was taken to Camp Bow Wow , I injured my Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) in my back left leg. The surgery to repair this injury is being paid for by Camp Bow Wow Brentwood. WITHOUT THE SURGERY, my other leg will give out fairly soon and I will be unable to walk. Once I have the surgery, I should be able to fully recover, although my rehab will take 6 to 8 weeks. I really need to find a home (foster or forever) where I can recooperate, because the place I am at now is not condusive to my recovery. Please, please, please, help me. I am an amazing boy who loves people, kids, and other dogs. I do have a lot of energy, and would want someone familiar with my breed to either foster or adopt me.
