About Kira

Kira is an 18 month old, 80 pound Rottweiler. She is a really good girl. Kira walks well on a leash and loves to go for car rides. She is playful but isn't crazy energetic. Kira is very affectionate with her people and especially loves men. Her foster mom can have a treat in her hand and Kira will ignore her to go to her foster dad for attention instead. Kira requires a physically fenced yard to run and play safely. Kira was seized from her home by an animal control officer and brought to a shelter in Missouri. Kira passed her dog and cat test at the shelter. The shelter reached out for rescue because Kira does not like to be restrained. Kira isn't mean about it but does want to get away if you try to hold her tightly. We suspect in Kira's mind bad things happened to her when she was restrained. She is making progress with her foster parents holding her but does need work on this Kira passed her dog and cat test at the shelter. Kira wiggles with the male Rottweilers in her home on the other side of a fence but is kept separate from them because Kira does guard her favorite toys. She will bring you her favorite ball to throw so she can fetch, but if we walk up to her to take the ball from her, she covers it with her paws and tucks her head over it. In time Kira will trust a human enough to take the toy and give it back but she isn't at that point yet. Kira is house trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm tested. She would do well with an experienced dog owner who allow her the time she needs to form a bond and trust a human.
