About Finn

****When responding please use application at sparrowdogs.com, or begin by telling us about yourself and previous dog experience. ******************* Finn is a tiny guy, just 8 pounds and almost 3 years old, that came from an overcrowding situation. At that time 17 Chihuahua/mixes were removed as well as many cats. Most of the dogs were very fearful and under socialized. A few of the dogs were a bit more at ease and were able to be handled and became affectionate. Finn is a little guy that is struggling to let his guard down so will need a very dog savvy family, preferably one that has previous Chihuahua experience. He was adopted for a time by a loving family that felt after several months perhaps they were not the right home for Finn, he was not progressing socially. I totally understand, they wanted the best for him. I am not sure that Finn will ever be that snuggly little dog that we all enjoy, I am with Finn on this one, I am not real snuggly either-lol. Since returning to us he has sat on my lap, he came and put his little paws on me and I picked him up, he was nervous but comes back for brief lap time visits. As a foster home we hope to 'fix' all the dogs, help them to be more adoptable. Well, we just come to realize not everyone needs fixing, they perfectly imperfect, Finn is a very happy boy, he is OK with who he is, maybe he will never be very social, maybe he will?? But , as long as he is happy, playful, enjoys his life..and is well mannered and housebroken, what else could he ask for? Finn will do well in a home with another dog, or two, or three! He love, love, loves his dog buddies and will run around the yard playing with them. His best (and very tolerant) pal is a senior dog, Swayzee. Finn will cuddle with him all day long if he could. He sneaks up on Swayzee as he sleeps, crawls in, slowly creeps closer to get some real snuggles in, too cute. Finn must have a secure fenced yard, he is tiny so there cannot be any gaps. He is not comfortable with leash walking, so this is a must. He will be more comfortable with older dogs, little kids might be a little intimidating. Of course, other dogs in the home would be best. His adoption fee is $150. We expect he will not greet people well and it will take work for his new family to help him settle in on their turf, a bit of a commitment and will require plenty of patience!!
