About Penny

German Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Meet Penny! Her smile and personality will always brighten your day! Penny is a 12-month old, 46-pound female German Shepherd mix who lives in Lawrence, MA. She checks several important boxes, being spayed, up-to-date on shots, house trained, and crate trained. But her adopter must check important boxes, too. As a working dog breed, Penny requires an active lifestyle. Penny's goal is to be part of an active family. She's a spunky dog who loves toys and makes a formidable tug-of-war partner. A happy traveler, she loves to feel the wind on her face while on car rides. She would be a great companion for walking, running, or hiking. Though an enthusiastic young girl, this penny from heaven also has a laid back side to her. She loves hanging out with her people, relaxing, and having belly rubs. Penny does well with kids and has experience with teens and children as young as seven. She needs a cat-free home since she has no experience with them. High on her wishlist is a big backyard. If someone spent time at home more often than a typical work day, she could be the only fur kid, but regular socialization with dogs should be part of her life. Penny knows a few basics, but needs more training to hone her manners and walk better on leash. She is shy with strangers at first, but, after a couple of interactions with new people, she is fine. She has the same reaction to new dogs to include her neighbor who is now her buddy. Training upon adoption benefits both human and canine! Back story: Penny's need for rehoming serves as a lesson: puppies should never be given as Christmas gifts! At 3-months old, Penny was gifted to two children, ages 7 and 14, but the gift was also a surprise to the parents. Though things worked out while the kids were home for online learning, now that school is back to normal she stays in her crate for 10 hours a day, five days a week. The family does not want her to be alone all day and feel it's best to rehome her. To adopt this lucky Penny, please apply here: https://tiny.cc/ARK-Application #ARKforPenny #JustSaveThem
