About Fresh

!!!ADOPT FRESH!!! You may recall the heartbreaking story of our beloved boy, Fresh! Fresh was found by a kind member of the public being tormented by children. They were chasing him and throwing rocks at him. How awful! This kind person brought Fresh to a shelter, where he sat for 22 days losing weight, vomiting and had awful diarrhea. Fresh only received the most basic of vet care while in the shelter, and wasted away to a body score of 1 out of 9. That is as close to death by starvation as a dog can get. Some wonderful volunteers brought Fresh to our attention. We rushed to the shelter and took this amazing dog to Penn Vet. Here our worst fears came to light. Fresh was diagnosed with a bowel obstruction and needed immediate surgery in an attempt to save his life. Fresh was transported to one of our fantastic vet partners who performed emergency surgery. This amazing, machine of a dog had 10 inches of dead bowel in him! How he did not succumb to infection still amazes us all. Fresh spent several days in hospital recovering then went off to foster. Now, a few months later he is fully recovered and ready for his forever home. What we have learned about this super dog: Fresh enjoys the simple pleasures in life. A patch of grass to roll in, a rubber toy to chew on, and all the laps in the world to lay on. Fresh has not met a human he has not totally and completely loved with every fiber of his wiggly, goofy being. We have also learned Fresh does not enjoy sharing his food and toys with other dogs. After nearly starving to death, who can blame him? Fresh will need to be your one and only, but, we promise you, he has more love to give than any 10 dogs! No kitties for this boy, either. Fresh is very playful, so kids over 6 would be best. Now for his particulars: Fresh is a 4 year old pit mix. He is UTD on his vaccines, neutered and microchipped. This special boy is house trained and crate trained too. Every now and then a very special dog comes along. Fresh is one of the most special dogs.
