PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 1. No children under 12. 2. Needs a fully fenced yard. 3. No apartments or condos. 2 year old male Chiweenie, about 12 pounds. Fredrick spent his first years outside in a kennel with his two brothers and left behind when his first family moved away. He is still very much a puppy and learning to be a house dog. He is very sweet and loving and loves to play with other dogs. Since he's been at his foster home he is learning to go potty outside. He sleeps in a crate at night and is doing well. He does ok being in his kennel when you are away, but has some separation anxiety. He will bark and howl if he thinks he's been left behind, so he will not be good for an apartment or condo. Or being left alone for long periods of time. He would need a family who is committed to keep working with him to be the best dog and would benefit from puppy training classes. Fenced yard is a must as he loves to be outside! He doesn't yet understand toys are for playing but loves a good bone to chew. Cats are unknown but my guess is that he would give chase. Would be ok as an only dog, but having a playmate would also be fun. Has gotten along with most of the dogs he's met (EXCEPT for his brother Frazier! Littermate syndrome is real!) Children over 12 suggested. Adoption contract and fee applies. COVID UPDATE: All adoptable dogs can be met privately with an appointment with their foster parents. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at a central facility. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay/neuter appointments. If you live within a four-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, we will ask you to make an appointment to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
