About Buddy

Adoption Fee: $300
Rottweiler
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Meet Buddy This handsome fella is Buddy - a gorgeous 5 year old male in need of a new home. His elderly owner is suffering from Alzheimer's and can no longer adequately care for Buddy. Buddy is now in an SPDR foster home, learning a new routine and what's acceptable behavior. He was quite worried at first, and it took a few days for him to come out of his shell in his new environment--he wanted to hide in his crate for the first few days, but now has learned that he can be friendly and get lots of attention. He is house trained and does well in the house with the other dogs in the foster home. Buddy has had some obedience and knows sit and down, and he walks nicely on lead. Buddy has not been around children, so no children under age 12, and we don't have any history with cats either - so no cats. He ignores the horses in his foster home, and the chickens too (safely penned). This beautiful boy of about 115 pounds is a little unsure when first meeting people. He's been mostly an outside dog for the past 6 months or so (moved up here from San Diego) and he doesn't have many visitors, so his initial response sometimes involves barking at people he doesn't know (he was tied out much of the time and learned to be defensive because he was scared). He craves attention though, and with some chicken treats, he's your new best friend and loves to be pet. This is a lovely dog who would thrive with some attention and training to create a bond. He's eager for attention and food motivated, and would be a great companion. We are looking for someone with previous Rottweiler experience for this boy.
