About Nyla

Nyla has a very sad story and is in need of a foster or adoptive home. She was dumped at a very rural county shelter near the coast of NC. She had 5 babies that were only three weeks old and a rescue took her babies and left her behind. The babies weren't even weaned and Nyla sit in the shelter scared to death full of milk. We pulled her 8/3/21 and she is now safe with us in boarding but she really needs out and into a home. What we do know is she is very protective over food so she can not be fed with other dogs or be around other dogs when treats is given out. We see this when a dog has been left to fend for themselves not knowing when another meal will come along. She needs to be fed away from people and away from dogs so she can eat in peace and not feel like she has to protect her food. It is really very sad to think she was probably starved at some point in her short life. She was okay outdoors with other dogs but once inside with food she was very protective so at this time she needs a responsible person who will feed seperate or does not have a dog. Small children is not advised since they could have food around not knowing any better. Nyla is such a people person and will lay her head in your lap and wants to be close to you. She gives tail wags so we know she is coming around but we know she is still very confused as to where her babies went. She is 2 years old, heart worm negative, has had shots and wormed. We can't not get her spayed until her milk is dried up but will pay for her spay at a preferred vet once she is ready. Please consider this sweet girl with beautiful soulful eyes to be part of your family. She has been dealt a terrible hand but we know there is someone out there to show her what love really is.
