This post goes out with a prayer that one special angel sees this and saves this sweet boy ! Lucky is timestamped for Sunday, 8/15@10:00AM. Please email [email protected] and call Kat 516 457-3678 if you can foster or adopt . Lucky ACCT-A-96573 Dog - Mixed Breed (Small) Sex : Male Age : 10Y / 1W Weight : 16.80 lbs Location: Small Dog Room Adult-Only Home Preferred, Single Dog Home Lucky ACCT-A-96573 i Lucky is a senior, small dog that was surrendered by his owner due to behaviors that have developed in the home. He has lived in the same household for 10 years, and more recently has started to show resource guarding around food. He snaps at family members and recently bit his owner during a bath he was recieving. The owner believes he may be losing his hearing and we feel he would do best as a single pet, due to a history of not doing well with other dogs in his previous home. Please text me to see his video he is very loving and not sure if these POS owners are making up stories . He responds to cues in Chinese. We feel placement with a rescue partner that can better assess and manage the behavior needed for Lucky to be successful in a home, would benefit Lucky at this time. Confirmed placement is considered confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other 'to be determined statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. Lucky ACCT-A-96573 Intake: Owner Surrender (Aggression to people) Age: 10Y Sex: Male Altered: Yes **I'd prefer a home without other dogs. I want to be your one and only!* * Medical Observation: 8/1 (Intake Exam)--Ears -ears swollen and v dirty inside, unable to clean Behavior observation: 8/4 (Per Staff)--While cleaning Small dog room, Lucky was laying in a half crate, I attempted to reach in and pick up the half crate to move him out and clean without touching Lucky. Lucky stood up and snapped at my hand when I attempted to move the half crate. 8/2 (Per Staff)--Lucky's behavior has repeatedly deteriorated with age. He has been displaying aggression towards adults and children along with displaying resource guarding behavior in a home environment. This behavior has resulted in a bite to the owner while bathing and attempts to bite during feeding. Lucky has also displayed a high prey drive in the home and would do best as an only dog. Due to behavioral concerns, Lucky has been made 'rescue only' and it is recommended that he be placed with a rescue partner prepared to provide him with behavioral support and management. A health check has been requested to rule out possible medical concerns factoring into behavior. 8/1 (Per Medical Staff)-- BAR, fearful 8/1 (PEr Previous Owner)--he is vey sweet when it is quiet and there's no one around. he is skittish and has food aggression. in his older age he has become very grumpy and has started to resource guard. he is showing food aggression and is snapping at people when they try to feed him or pet him. He bit the owner of the dog (grandma) two weeks ago. At this time, he was getting bathed. While bathing, the dog turned around and bit through her finger, she had to be rushed to urgent care. She was the only person that the dog had not been showing aggression to. the dog was sulking and then two days later she was setting food down and the dog turned around and tried snapping at the same hand. the growling has always been a thing, and his aggression has been escalating since two weeks ago. even if the family is two feet away from him and trying to give him a treat he will growl and bares his teeth and is a snarl. His body language presents that he will attack, and he is very fast. If you don't notice the signs you could get hurt. The dog looks confused and disoriented often. He stares off into space in the morning. And someone will call out to him and he might be losing his hearing because you have to clap very loudly to get his attention. He cannot hear people calling him. He bit the cat in the home on the back, but did not leave any injuries. He bit another dog on the neck and tail and left slight scratches because the family was able to seperate them. In the videos at the shelter he is so sweet allowing for pick ups , can somebody dave this baby . Please call Kat i can send you the video 516 457-3678 .
