Nino is my name, and I'm a blue heeler seeking a forever home with the right family. I'm six years old and I've been through several big changes in my life, starting out as a stray puppy on the Navajo reservation, and moving to Baltimore with my adoptive parents for a couple of years. They subsequently discovered that having twin babies and demanding jobs in the big city didn't leave much time and energy for an active young dog. I moved back to Albuquerque to live with their elderly parents, who have since developed health issues and simply cannot physically provide the exercise and playtime I really need. True to my breed, I'm smart, trainable, and super loyal to my family. I am cooperative, fully housebroken, crate trained, and know basic commands. I'm a good watchdog and it sometimes takes a little time for me to warm up to someone new. Also true to my breed, I need activities to keep me interested and healthy (I love to play ball and frisbee), and I have a herding instinct that makes me unsuitable for families with young children or cats. I do love to cuddle on the couch, and I have never been destructive to household belongings. Although I am loved, we think I would be better off living with folks who could be more active with me. Sometimes I don't put weight on my left rear leg. I've been x-rayed (no hip displasia or fractures). The docs are not sure what's wrong, but I get around just fine! If you take me into your home and heart, I'll give you my love and loyalty in return. For more information, contact Wendy Brown at [email protected] or call her at (505-250-1849. Nino
