Since being brought back from a return adoption he has been simply the sweetest lapdog trying to get as close as possible and all the above mentioned! Absolutely such a good boy! Spade is an adult male, medium sized mixed breed dog recently adopted and returned after being surrendered in early June. Spade has had consistently good interactions with staff throughout his stay at the shelter with staff describing him as friendly, social, and soliciting a lot of attention. He's been observed to sit on people's laps to be as close to them as possible, and though he was reluctant to return to kennel at times, he would allow staff to pick him up to get him back in. Prior to adoption, Spade began to demonstrate signs of stress including panting, continuous barking, and rushing/hard barking at the kennel front. In his home, prior to surrender, Spade lived with a cat and a dog, and did well, however he was surrendered for a bite to the female owner in the household. In a new home, post adoption, Spade attempted to bite and actually bit on two occasions, within two days. In all instances, Spade bites multiple times in rapid succession. Though there was minimal damage in the last incidents, demonstrating some level of bite inhibition, his willingness to bite and inappropriate response to stimuli is concerning behavior that requires modification and ongoing management. Ideal placement for Spade is in an experienced foster home where he can work with a behavior professional prior to placement into an experienced adoptive home. https://www.facebook.com/phillyurgents/photos/a.1202042876494970/4556873917678499/?type=3
