Bianco's a wonderful dog, very attached to his current owner. He jumped out of a moving car in Jan 2021. His left hind leg suffered a Comminuted Fracture which was repaired, pinned, and plated. However, he refused to use the leg for a long time. Owner was assured that the bone was healing well. However, as he seemed to get worse, owner insisted on another xray which showed that the bone was not healing and, in fact, was full of infection. Due to owner moving to a different city, he cannot take Bianco with him and is told that the leg must be removed. Bianco has not been using the leg since the accident and has been walking on 3 legs so having it removed should have no functional effect other than the weight loss. He has snapped at the owner and a couple of people who made unexpected moves toward him. We're hoping that removing the leg will alleviate the pain and make him less jumpy and protective of the wound. Bianco has learned many commands and does a good job of obeying the owner. He does need lots of walks and/or a large, safe space to run in. If owner cannot find someone to take him soon, he will be put down. If a new owner is found, the current owner will have the leg removed prior to any move. Bianco's father is a Great Pyrenees and his mother is a Maremma.
