About Yoda

Adoption Fee: $50
Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Loves snuggling up to you on the couch. (+) A true Velcro dog. Will follow you anywhere and doesn't want to leave your side...even to pee. (+) Body Type - 'I eat like a pig and don't work out. I'm just fit.' (+) Nothing makes her happier than a warm patch of sunshine to lay in. (+) Excellent with car rides and pubs. (+) Will do ANYTHING for a Klondike bar (treats/food) (+) Crate trained/House trained (-/+) but is an early riser. (+) Politely curious about other animals and children. (-) Pitties ARE working dogs so she can be mouthy. Will need chew toys and work on manners when meeting people. (-) Prefers tug to fetch. You will NOT get your toy back if you throw it. (-/+) Will be THAT kid at the dog park. Very energetic player. We are working on 'Off!' for that. (+) Would make an excellent travel companion. Likes car rides (no sickness) and hotel stays. (-/+) Understands the concept of walking on the leash, but feels the pace is negotiable. (+) Basic Obedience: sit, stay, down, off, wait, leave it. Why she didn't work for our family: We were looking for a more independent dog, like our older German Shepherd. Yoda craves and deserves a lot of affection and attention that the other 'not dog people' in my house don't want to give and I don't have time to give. I'm very used to my cactus dog and Yoda'|.is an orchid. I am not helping her thrive. With the right time and attention (and maybe a dog sport: dock diving, coursing (with bags...NOT bunnies), spring pole) she will absolutely flourish. What you will need to be successful with her: Patience. She is trained but smart and thinks that means she only has to listen SOMETIMES. A new dog food. Raw diet or a high quality kibble works great for her. The food my Covid budget has been able to afford for two dogs might as well be called 'In and Out'. Better obedience training. Again, the basics are there but needs reinforcement. But that's true with any dog. Positive training with snacks works well.
