*** ASSISTANCE DOG CANDIDATE !! *** 'JACK' is a super handsome, easy going, good-natured 3 yr old, 80 lb. Landseer Newfoundland/Australian Shepherd mix male we rescued from a kill pound, where he had been owner surrendered due to 'moving'. Jack has such a terrific 'winning' personality it's hard to overstate how simply awesome of a companion he is. Jack is kind, gentle, smart, calm, affectionate, gentle, silly, sweet, super responsive and obedient ... he is the total package! Jack is large for his breed and does have extra pounds on him, so we've been managing his weight, but regular, daily exercise would be essential in his 'forever home'. Jack likes the companionship of other dogs, and is a great 'buddy' dog, especially for one who is less secure because Jack has natural confidence. (He has been a real asset in rescue helping us with dogs who need to adjust and learn to trust). His playstyle is gentle and silly, so he wouldn't like a robust, gladiator-style play companion, but rather one who gently wrestles and runs. Jack has never been 'cat-tested', but appears to do great with children, though we do recommend kids above the age of 6 yrs old. Jack is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
