About Taz

Taz is a 21 week old, *Special Needs* Saint Bernard & Great Dane mix, that has Cerebral Hypoplasia. This is the result if inadequate Cerebellum development. Therefore the signals from the brain to the body for fine motor skills/movement did not develop properly. He was the only survivor in his litter and had to be bottle fed from birth, he is very a special boy!!! Videos posted in comments on main post of him walking. He walks and runs but is uncoordinated, off balance at times but this doesn't slow him down! He has no idea he is any different and has the best spirit!! He is a BIG ball of love & joy, all puppy and is growing fast! Our vet has advised that physical therapy will help to keep him from favoring one side over the other and keep his muscles strong. Many of these exercises can be done at home, but acupuncture, hydrotherapy, medications and other therapies may be beneficial in his future. He is fantastic with other dogs, kids, can easily be trained to be with cats, crate trained, doing fantastic with potty training, leash training and learning his basic skills. He is such a sweet and special boy that needs a home who will help him as he grows to live a long and healthy life! Due to his special needs and lack of coordination at times, small children will not be ideal for his future home. We truly believe he may knock them down unintentionally and cause harm. His Mother was a Saint Bernard around 130+ pounds and Dad was a Saint Dane who is 165+ pounds and still growing. We suspect Taz will be significant in size! We do require giant breed experience for homes with children under 12 years of age. If you are interested in adopting Taz, please send us a message for an application!
