About Benny

Saint Bernard
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Our boy Benny is on his way back to the rescue today... I am heartbroken for him, but it was not the right fit and not the fault of us as a rescue or his adoptive mom. She is INCREDIBLE and we will be placing another baby with her so they can have the most amazing life! One we know will work and have success with a very active lifestyle. Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that the previous owner of Benny, did not tell us everything about him before surrendering him... When you leave details out, we fail if we don't address specific issues or needs because we don't know about them! We take all kinds of dogs, fear aggression, bite history and dogs that are pretty perfect but we were the right place to tell the truth too because we try to help them all!!! The problem was we never saw any of these issues in our care but we are very experienced at handling giants and often certain behaviors won't show for us, due to structured environments and schedules. Yet, if we know they have them before coming in, we address them in training! We test them in different environments to see their tolerances, we do everything much more in depth! Basic training (used for most dogs) and our behavioral rehabilitation program are two totally different things! Unfortunately, leaving out such valuable information means Benny didn't get the right home and he ended up biting someone. The situation was crazy, it wasn't his fault at all but it still could have cost him his life!!! Regardless of it being a provoked bite, he never would have been put in that situation had we been given all the information from the start. He would have been placed in a specific home with training to address these issues only AFTER he completed our rehabilitation training program! Now Benny has to come back, start over and get the help he needs but now he has a bite history! These babies still need loving homes, but they need experienced homes that will manage them properly. They usually stay here a long time because we only place them in a safe place. Our behavioral rehabilitation program is anywhere between 4-12+ months, then it can be many more before we find them the right home. We currently have 2 boys here that have been here 15-18 months, because the right home hasn't come along for them yet. Benny got the short end of the stick, its so unfair and my heart breaks for not only him but his adoptive mom who loves him so much but cannot handle his issues and there was no trainer within hundreds of miles that could help them either. Please tell the truth if you give up your pet!!! It helps no one, it does not save your pet's life if you omit information, it not only endangers it but also endangers the public and ANY incidents you can be held liable for because you did not disclose history in full. No one wins when lies are involved... Please welcome back Benny, he is a beautiful boy with all the potential and now we will get it right for you baby boy!
