Meet Alex! Male, 'docker' (dachshund / cocker mix0. 2.5 yr old / 26 lbs. Ideal home: a dog companion (NO CATS) and strong owner leadership. Activity level: moderate Once Alex feels he is in a safe and loving environment, he becomes a very sweet and loving dog. He may be slow to warm up to you but wants to be your best friend. He loves exploring in the backyard and an occasional rabbit chase makes him happy. He would need proper introduction with all people because initially he is cautious around strangers. The best part of his story is he is overcoming this fear little-by-little, so will need consistency to get past this challenge. When he settled in to his current foster home, he became loving, adoring, sweet, quiet, and a gentle dog who will look at you with kind eyes, and is eager give you a small kiss in appreciation of you as his leader. Manners: Alex knows sit, wait, and come, and he is housebroken and crate-trained. He walks on a leash very well and loves a car ride. Unlike most dogs, so far, Alex doesn't look to bother anything around the house. He would enjoy some one-on-one training for confidence.
