About Ivy

American Bulldog / American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Courtesy post for owners: Meet Ivy! She is 100 pounds of love and beauty! She is almost 4. Sadly her family is unable to keep her due to their baby being born severely premature. Dad works 7 days a week and mom spends most of her time at the hospital across the bridge in Baltimore. Sadly this is not a temporary situation and will likely continue for years. After 7 months their family members are unable to help any longer with letting Ivy out during the day and so she spends a lot of time alone :( This is not fair to her as she has so much love to give. Please do not suggest to keep her as that is sadly not in her best interest with this being long term. They are heartbroken but want what is best for sweet Ivy. Breed: *Staffy/American bully mix- with family since puppyhood. Temperament: *Very playful and full of love once she warms up to you. *At first, skittish of new people- will tend to bark a lot and back away. After about 10 minutes, she is ready for you to throw her a ball and play with her. After a few interactions she will start to build a trusting relationship with you. She is a very loving dog when she knows you and she loves cuddling up and sleeping with you. *Fully house trained and crate trained, but has not needed a crate for a long time. No potty accidents or chewing behaviors and is left for long hours. Environment/ people needs: *Large dog experience *Fenced yard so she can play. *Puppy friend possible- if you have a male dog, we can set up a meet and greet so they can meet- she has enjoyed playing with certain other dogs. *Does well around kids *Cats- no exposure *Ivy needs a grain free, chicken and beef free food due to skin allergies and is important to continue. *Otherwise, healthy and vet care- up to date.
