FLUFFY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOME ASAP Sharing his story again: Fluffy was found by a friend of one of our founder's last Monday. He has been posted all over lost and found groups, on Nextdoor, we have checked Craigslist and county lost and found maps and no one is looking for him. Honestly, I would have been surprised if someone was because the condition of his coat was the worst that I have seen on a stray yet, and that is saying something. His collar was so tight and matted and attached to his skin that it was almost impossible to get off and attach a new collar. We tried 3 times to work on cutting out his matts and brushing out whatever we could to try to save him from being shaved - and to be clear, WE DON'T RECOMMEND SHAVING A HUSKY 99.9% OF THE TIME. Unfortunately for this guy, it had to be done. Our vet told us that it was in his boys best interest medically to shave almost completely. He's got his head and his paws still furry and we are gonna work on getting him a light jacket for sun protection. The good news is that he seems SO much more comfortable now!! He wouldn't let us touch him in quite a few spots without flinching and jumping or even growling in the worst spots, and now he definitely lets you pet him all over - he is a little more timid about the backend still, but we think it's just an adjustment. He's been through a lot. He also got an aloe bath to soothe his skin irritation and a steroid shot to help heal. He is also on antibiotics for his skin. We had several other health tests done as well and he is also positive for tick fever! Poor guy. He is beginning his 30-day treatment for this which involves another antibiotic. We can't wait to see how he grows as he starts to feel completely healthy again! His finder currently still has him now but also has a toddler and a dog that isn't good with other dogs so she has been rotating and high stress for her - our alternative will be boarding if we can find a facility to accept him, but an actual home for him to heal would be ideal. He has overall been good with other dogs - we have only had him around large dogs so far. He can be pretty calm but he also can be happy and playful, so it varies. He has started to show some signs of stress in his current living situation so we truly believe it's in his best interest to get him into a more stable living situation as soon as possible too. He has played great with the 7mo puppy here for the most part, though there have been a few jealousy issues over toys, there have been no major fights. We still would love to find a foster with similar breed experience to work with him. He can be a bit of a velcro dog and really wants to be near people. Not awesome in a kennel but he is slowly adjusting and making progress. He is completely potty-trained with his current foster.
