About Oakley

Border Collie mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Oakley is a male border collie mix that is a typical herder in that he needs a lot exercise and to be given his space. Oakley knows his basic commands and is good in the house and loves to have a room or a space of his own. Oakley was originally a very loving, playful and friendly dog. But a year ago he started showing signs of anxiety and we started working with our vet to manage it. He is timid and fearful with new situations and people and he gets overwhelmed easily. He needs someone who is extremely active and who can give him stimulation but also understands how to let him decompress and be relatively hands off. He needs someone to continue his training. He prefers to be a single dog, he has never really been around kids so unsure of how he would do with them. He is not the boy to greet all the visitors or run errands with you every day, but rather he prefers to hangout in the yard and watch from afar. Oakley has not been around kids and is shy and apprehensive with new people. He is good on the leash and loves his daily walks, runs or hikes. Oakley would flourish in a home where his herding breed is understood and he gets the cooperative working relationship he needs from his new owner. Oakley is vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.
