About Nikko

Nikko is a very sweet, 9 year old red merle Aussie who loves to please and is highly trainable. He has lots of energy and needs a home where he gets daily exercise and play. He'd make a great companion for someone who runs or walks daily! He enjoys hiking and playing fetch and walks well on a leash. He does great in the car and does well with voice control and commands. He knows many commands like 'Sit', 'Stay', 'Down', and 'Rollover'. He does good with most adults and older children, but his herding instincts kick in with younger children that like to run around. Storms and fireworks are scary for Nikko and he is an escape artist with chain link fences and can chew through crates if left unattended. He will go to the bathroom in the house if left alone during a storm or fireworks. His ideal forever family would be experienced with herder breeds that can give him the level of activity that he needs and are experienced with dogs that have anxiety. He would be excellent with agility training or other dog sports. He gets along well with most dogs and cats but he will chase cats if they run (never harms them). He loves to be the center of attention and needs plenty of loving!
