About Dottie

Dottie, 3.5 y/o, 7 lbs is a Silver Tabby with a wonderful personality. A bit hesitant and shy in a new environment, she may hide out of the way for a few days. If you are quiet and persistent, you can eventually coax her to approach you. But don't push it; a gradual approach works best. Just go about your business and pretend you don't see her until she loses fear of you. After she knows you aren't dangerous, she becomes quite affectionate. Getting down to her level is less threatening. Allow her to come to you instead of you moving too close. She resists being picked up. And may remain skittish if you move toward her too quickly. She enjoys relaxing in a bed or box where she can look outside, but also will curl up comfortably on an over-stuffed chair in a quiet room. She also likes to climb and may perch on top of a cupboard to take an undisturbed nap. Trying to call her down is probably useless, and reaching for her can be harmful to any breakable objects if she scrambles away in fear. It's safer to let her descend on her own. Dottie may be solitary and stay out of the way when she is first in a new home, but after a few days she'll begin to socialize with people and friendly cats. She's the longest animal in residence. After nearly a full year in the shelter, she will appreciate the opportunity to get a forever home with a real loving family. She's a very nice cat, truly deserving of a loving family.
