About Smokey

Smokey was rescued from a shelter up in Page, Arizona. Poor thing was left in a crate in front of the shelter terrified! He was so scared of everyone and cautious to come close until he realized you weren't going to hurt him. We later discovered who owned him and reached out to his owner and was told that her boyfriend was abusing him and if she didn't surrender him that he would 'get rid' of him his way, so sadly she left him in front of the shelter during the night. That explains his apprehension and trust of people. He warms up quickly especially with hamburgers:) that's how we won him over. After settling in he has become THE MOST LOVING, LOYAL companion. He is sweet, loving and very gentle but can be protective of the people he loves. He will bark at strangers if coming into the house but not outside while on a leash or on walks. He is completely housebroken and does not potty inside the house. When it's breakfast and dinner time, he barks with excitement, he LOVES to eat. He is great with all dogs. He is super mellow and would be great for an older couple. We haven't seen him around kids so we are unsure and would like if a family is interested in adoption him that the kids be older. No babies or toddlers. He rides great in the car and walks great on a leash, he does not pull and is just so mellow. He just wants his own family to settle into, one that will treat him kind and love him unconditionally. If you think you fit that bill, please reach out to us.
