This little girl is Layla! Layla means 'daughter of the night' or 'dark beauty.' And isn't she a beauty! Layla is a scared 4 Yr girl set to be put down 8/1 if we don't find her a Home and a Rescue! Why is the shelter putting her down? For being wary and uncertain in the loud shelter kennels. Layla was picked up by the officers and crouches down in her kennel to hide when strangers come to see her. When hiding doesn't work, she has done a low growl to show them that she is scared. Once she has been leashed, Layla walks nicely out of her kennel and likes exploring the playyard! She is willing to come take treats gently from the staff, but then backs away quickly. She isn't quite comfortable getting touched or eating near strangers yet. Layla needs a calm, adult only home who will give her space to relax and come to them on her own time! We know that patience will be rewarded and she will bloom into a happy girl with some peace and quiet! Layla has also had a mild cough for the past few weeks, so she will need a follow up vet appointment for an antibiotic. She has never been around other dogs, so we are unsure how she would react. We recommend being separate from other dogs until she has completed her medication, but maybe a calm dog would be a friend after some time to settle!
