Oliver is a 6yo neutered male dachshund. Oliver suffers from social anxiety and over the past couple of years this has gotten worse. Anytime we go for a walk, he will bark and pull on his leash when we encounter other dogs and some strangers. Though we try to avoid passing other dogs, it is nearly impossible to do so in such a busy city. Almost every walk, we need to pick Oliver up from the ground until we pass the dog so he will not bark. That said, his walks are no longer enjoyable and it is quite difficult to manage. We have tried to slowly socialize him with other dogs, but his anxiety is too great. He only gets along with his brother a 7yo frenchie. Although he has a loud bark, he is not a biter and has never shown aggression. He has also had a back injury that has limited his ability to go for long walks and can only go for 1 full block twice a day. He has recovered, but we try to limit his activity at home and do not let him jump on and off the couch to avoid exacerbating his injury and allow him to continue getting better. Oliver is a loving happy energetic doxie who needs a compatible home to keep thriving.
