About Krypto

Adoption Fee: $250
Siberian Husky / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Krypto is SO happy to be safe in a foster home with other dogs. He is finally out of the shelter and boarding and in a home with three other dogs, who he may or may not be annoying with his level of playful 'pay attention to me' energy. Did we mention how excited he is about other dogs? This boy comes to us from a shelter in CA where he was very close to the end go the line. Our amazing CA volunteer pulled him and worked out his transport to us! He is a bit of a project dog, but since coming out of the shelter has continued to surprise us with his transformation! His first day out he was showing high stress and some kennel / boarding aggression - he was meeting all new people in an all new place and fear snapped. He did not actually bite there and has not broken skin. After a couple days this totally disappeared and he became very friendly and affiliative and comfortable with his handler in CA. He went through more of the same with our boarding facility and behavioralist here on arrival, but after about a week he was letting all of the staff put him and love on him all the time! He really wants to be loved and wants to be a good boy, but change is not his friend - he takes a bit to adapt and get comfortable. Krypto also absolutely HATES a leash attached to his collar - he will scream as if in pain and fall on the ground and not walk! We had x-rays done of his neck going to a radiologist for review just to be 100% sure there is nothing medically wrong, but the solution we found was to leash him attached to his harness instead - it's a night and day difference and he walks very comfortably with the leash attached here! Currently the greatest concern the foster has with him is that he has put all of his attention into playing with their dogs and really doesn't seem that interested in human attention now that there are other dogs around. So if you are looking for a dog to be attached to you as your everyday companion, he may not be the best fit for that. If you want a playmate for your other dog(s) and understand he is going to obsess over giving them attention and be the best of puppy friends, he could be a very good fit! Alternatively he would likely do well as an only dog too, though he may take some more work to get comfy and open up to you - training wise other dogs are a major distraction to him! A lot of this also could very well be adjustment based. We are continuing to learn from him every day and will amend this listing as he progresses. He needs an experienced owner who is willing to take the time to work with him - he truly is one of those unique cases you meet that you can just tell the end result has so much potential! He's already come so far from the day he left the shelter just a few short weeks ago. No small kids and no cats recommended in his home. https://azhuskyrescue.com/adoption-application/
