About Abu

Adoption Fee: $100
Australian Shepherd mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Abu is an incredibly loving almost 2 year old boy who loves so fiercely no one or thing is allowed to love me or be anywhere near me. He needs to be an only pet with his own yard to exercise in. He is super jealous and will not let my other dog or cat near me with out being aggressive and down right rude about it. I love him so much but we recently moved to an apartment and I can't take him outside or anywhere where there are other people or animals (mostly dogs and cats). He is a biter to anyone who gets within 10 feet of me. He is highly anxious and probably needs to be on doggy prozac but I can no longer afford to spend money on stuff like that and The apartement complex asked us to remove him from the premisis or we would be kicked out of our home. I've tried training him out of his aggression but I don't have the resources to keep trying and he deserves a better life than living in a crate all the time. I live with my brother now and it's taken him almost a month to be in the same room as him, unfortunately, the second he leaves and comes back into the room Abu acts like he's never met him before. When I am not home and my brother is, Abu is significantly less aggressive... to the point that it's clear that I am the reason he is aggressive. He is the ultimate protector and would make a great hunting dog. He knows and is aware of where any living thing is. There is a large chance he will reset after not having me in his life since I have had him since he was born. He was a Rez puppy and I lived with a friend who owns his mother. His father is an Australian Shepherd Rez dog who lived next door and his mother is a mix of McNab, Chow, Border Collie, and Lab. Abu almost died from parvo when he was 3 months old (yes, he had had his first puppy vaccinations by then but the Rez is notorious for having Parvo and he grew in size quite fast.) He is currently being fostered by a friend who is putting in a lot of time training him and socializing him. He had a good meet and greet this past weekend and he even allowed to be pet! He sits, lays down, and stays on command (for the most part, he still needs consistency). He is expert level of holding his pee and poop in till you let him out side. Overall his temperment is improving not having me be apart of his every day routine. It is killing me that I can no longer give him what he needs in order to live happily anymore and this is one of the hardest things I've had to do but if there is someone out there that has the patience to take him in and give him the proper training and socialization and home he needs it's better than the alternative.
