About Kilo

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Kilo is a 38lb fluffy ball of love! He will be 3 years old in September 2021. He is a red tri male standard sized Aussie that is on the smaller side and loves to spend time with his family (dog siblings included). Kilo is a very velcro Aussie. He has absolutely zero cares about your personal space at any time. He absolutely loves to sleep in the bed with you, cuddled right up with you, but he will also sleep through the night in a crate if needed. Kilo also knows how to do an amazing thing called bikejoring, so if you like to ride bicycles he would be the perfect companion. He is good at listening to commands when there is food involved, and it doesn't matter if it's his regular kibble or high value treats, he's all about it. If there isn't any food involved you have to ask him repeatedly sometimes to do what you want. He is TOTALLY food motivated. So far he knows quite a few commands, such as: sit, lay down, shake, spin, up (jump), and we are working on stay. Kilo gets along well with the two other dogs in his foster home, however it took him a week and a half to get used to the puppy, and it required boundaries to be set by his foster parents. This is because he did not get the essential littermate socialization at 6-8 weeks, so he's a little socially awkward. With a proper introduction however, he loves to play play play with them. He is very vocal while playing. He loves to cuddle with the older female and rough house with the puppy. While he has lived with cats in his foster home, he can play with them too rough so dog savvy cats are a must if you have them. He will ignore cats initially, but gains an interest in them and will try to chase them, however after being told to leave them alone he will leave them alone Click on the link to see Kilo bikejoring https://youtu.be/O3I72t0qqgg He has spent his time in foster care in a house with a 4 ft chain link fence and has not tried to jump it. He loves to play fetch, and he would love a herding ball. Sometimes he gets so focused on playing fetch that he forgets to go potty and you have to put the ball away and tell him to go potty, otherwise he will just stand there and wait. He also needs to continue working on socialization because he is scared of strangers. Not scared of men Needs a slow introduction to male dogs Walks well on leash if he is alone Likes to sleep in bed Does not show food aggression towards people, cats, or other dogs Has a little bit stranger danger when meeting new people, but we are working on it Will test his boundaries. Must establish who is in charge.
