About Xena and Gabrielle

Xena, a six-month-old female Zebra Finch and her partner Gabrielle, a 10-week-old female Zebra Finch are looking for a loving guardian together. Similar to parakeets, Zebra finches are originally from Australia and are the most popular domesticated finch species. In fact, these colorful birds have been kept as pets for over 100 years. The Zebra Finch gets its name from the zebra-like stripes across its neck, chest, and especially from its black and white barred tail. Their sound is happy and squeaky, like tiny miniature car beeps, or little dog squeaky toys. Xena and Gabrielle's human had multiple litters and gathered more birds than he could care for. Their adoption fee of $100 including their well-appointed cage, food, toys, perches and treats benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue. If you would like to adopt the birds without their cage, their adoption fee is $60. They are currently being fostered in Chicago.
