About Pika

Pika is a 5 year old female purebred Australian Shepherd. She is very high energy and needs a owner that can work with her. To be completely honest she is highly protective. She is not necessarily aggressive but she can be hard to take on walks, she will sometimes lunge towards cars and sometimes bicyclists. I really think if she could go on regular walks and get used to seeing these things she would be better. She is great with kids, our 2 year old crawls all over her, pulls her tail, tries to climb in her and she os so sweet with her. She seems to be good with other dogs when she is off-leash but just for some reason being on the leash she is in protect mode. We are unable to give her the time and attention she needs. She needs an owner that understands she has issues and needs some work. She has never attacked another dog but when she's on the leash she will some growl and bark. When we get her to the park and take her off the leash she has always been good after that. Again I think if she was taken often she would maybe work these issues out. If for some reason her new owner does not work out we would prefer to take her back with us rather than her go to a dog pound where she may be put down for her issues.
