About Bentley

Bengal
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Bentley is a handsome, playful, and loving seven-year-old Bengal Cat with Bengal Rescue, a 501c3. Bentley lives with two dogs and two 14-year-old cats. Recently there were changes in the home, and the family's daughters grew up and went on their way to live their adult lives. After the girls left, Bentley wasn't getting the attention that he needed, or the play time that helps him burn off his energy. His owners work approximately 10 hours a day, and without all of the extra attention he was used to - Bentley began to act out. Soon Bentley began to annoy the older cats in the home, to a point where they now absolutely are exhausted by his antics. When he can't get their attention, he will pester them to the point of fights. They want long snoozes in the sun, not the crazy activities of a 7-year-old who wants projects and people to help him with his boredom! Between the older cats now constantly having to hide from Bentley, and Bentley not getting the hint, it seems that everyone would be a lot happier if Bentley had a home that was better suited for his personality and needs. Bentley loves attention and is a very interactive cat. He loves to dash through the house, running and jumping on things. He loves his tall cat trees, and when he's finally run out of gas - he likes to curl up in them for a nap. When he has a human to sleep with, he loves to sleep on the bed either between his human's legs or at the bottom of the bed. Bentley isn't overly loud but he definitely will meow loudly at breakfast time, and also greet you in the AM to say hello. He isn't overly vocal so we'll call him 'conversational.' Bentley loves playing with cat toys and chasing laser beams. When he does finally wear himself out he's down to lay on a pillow in front of the fireplace, or curl up in your lap if you have a blanket. We think he would thrive with an owner who could offer him a lot of enrichment, including an exercise wheel, shelving to climb, a water fountain, and perhaps occasional walks on a harness. Bentley's owner reports that he grew up with the two resident labs, and that they 'co-exist' great. But he has had some incidents of pooping outside of the litter box. We believe we've identified the cause of this. His owner didn't know that the rule of thumb is to completely clean out litter boxes with soap and water, on a monthly basis. Now that his boxes are getting better deep cleaning, Bentley is not having this problem (he was checked by a Veterinarian and there was no medical cause for this). Bentley is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is not declawed. He was treated many years ago for a Urinary Tract Infection and the Vets asked them to put him on the Royal Canin diet. We believe that Bentley would do even better on a Raw food diet.
