PLEASE READ INFORMATION AT THE END OF THE POST FOR ADOPTIONS Meet Bellatrix! She is a 3-year-old, 12 pound sweet and sassy little Chihuahua! Bellatrix apparently was in a couple of homes before she was surrendered to us, and she was a bit confused and insecure at first. She was still friendly, she just needed a little bit of time to feel comfortable in her foster home! Bellatrix is a very loving dog who loves to be right next to her person, gives kisses, and will love your company! She is good with all people she has met and she cuddles up right next to them for loving. This little girl wants to be by her person always, and needs to learn to be confident when they are away from the home. She suffers from separation anxiety and is insecure about her person leaving. If she knows that you are leaving the house she will try to bolt out the front door with you, so whoever adopts her needs to be very aware of that. She will eventually calm down once she knows you're coming back, but she can be a barker when left alone, so no apartments for her. At night she sleeps in a large fluffy bed by her foster mom's bed. She loves it! It cuddles up around her and she sleeps all night long. In the morning Bellatrix jumps up on the big bed to give her foster mom good morning kisses. So precious!! Bellatrix is higher energy and likes to play. She is good with other small dogs and enjoys their company, whether it's for playtime or snuggling. She would probably like a home with another dog for company. We are working towards feeding in a group and leaving others with space to eat, and no visiting their dish when she's done eating first! We think she would also be okay as an only dog as long as she got lots of attention and was not left alone too much! This little firecracker is a digger and will need highly supervised potty and outside time. Bellatrix should never be out alone without her person because she will dig out of the yard to try to find them. When she first got to her foster home she ran around the house and backyard to find an escape. Now she is exploring by sniffing grass and other interesting objects. She is a good dog and smart. She knows how to use potty pads and does stand by the back door when she has to go potty. She is good on a leash and likes walks, knows the word NO, and redirects away from inappropriate things. We are requiring a fenced yard for her. Her new family should closely observe her points of interest on the fence and make sure those areas are secured. Once she has attached herself to you and knows the home, a leash is not necessary in a fenced area, but she will still always need to be out with her person. Please don't take this lightly. If you value her, you will want to take the necessary steps to keep her safe! We were told she was around children and was fine with them. Based on her play, we think a family with older children would be best. She shakes toys with energy and gets mouthy if you touch her in a certain playful way when she is excited. We are working on the mouthy thing and she is getting better. Bellatrix will nervous pee when you pick her up suddenly, and is not a fan of car rides. She introduced herself to the vet by peeing on him, luckily he's used to that! She had a wellness check, is up to date on shots, including bordetella, spayed, fecal and heartworm tested, had a 12-month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Bellatrix is a very sweet little girl who is looking for her perfect person to love on her and care for her forever. In return you will have a loyal and loving little companion who always greets you happily when you come in the door!
