Ruger is a beautiful 2 year old Australian Shepherd. He came to our rescue because he was not neutered and very prone to running off while his previous owner was at work. He made a lot of friends along the way and we helped keep him safe several times. Eventually his owner relinquished him for us to find him a better fit. We had him to the vet right away but unfortunately, he was tested heartworm positive. We have done his heartworm treatment and he is 5 weeks post. He was neutered, microchipped, and has also received all of his vaccines. He is ready to find his new home!!! He is very well behaved, loves loves loves people, doesn't know a stranger and ADORES children. He is good with most dogs and doesn't bother our cats. He is great in a car, good on a leash and does well under voice control. The bad side is that he seems to have developed separation anxiety. He loves to be with his people. We do not believe he would do well in a town home or subdivision as he is very aware of noises and people outside and wants to check out every thing. He would love a rural home where he could be indoors and outdoors with his people. He will stay in most fenced yards but is really a houdini escape artist when it comes to an outdoor kennel and certain gates. He does crate in the house but may whine if separated from his people. He needs a handler that will give him guidance and instructions to follow. He aims to please. He will need a job around the house or farm.
