About Duke

'Hello friends and fans! My name is Duke and I'm a 2-3 year old Chow Chow/Border Collie/Lab/mix that came to SVASC after my owner was arrested; unfortunately, they decided that they no longer wanted me and left me at an overfull shelter. Ugh! Now I'm really hoping that you could be hero and get me out of this place. What do ya think? When I first arrived at SVASC, I was a pretty nervous pooch and have really taken my time getting to know staff. I can still be pretty wary around new folks... must be that Chow Chow in me! Anyways, give me some time and I'll be your bestie! I love treats and am very motivated to learn; it doesn't take much to win me over. I am pretty touch sensitive, especially around my head, face, neck, and ears. Staff think that this is because I had a severe, untreated ear infection that caused me to get pretty snappy when that area is touched. Because of this, I would do best in a home with an owner that understands that I can be a bit touchy when handled and in a home without impulsive children. I am good with other dogs, though, and could be your buddies best buddy! I am also house-trained and pretty easy to handle on leash. My adoption fee is $125 to an approved adopter.
