Meet Ferdinand, one our summer fun models. This gorgeous 3 year old German Shepherd was named after the gentle bull in a children's story. Why? Ferdinand is sweet, playful and very tolerant. When he came into the shelter they found a rope had been tied around his neck long enough that it had become embedded in his skin. I apologize for being graphic, but the skin had to be cut away and he had large open sores on his neck. Through all the procedures and treatment Ferdinand was a friendly boy and a favorite of the vet staff. He is big, energetic and needs to learn some basics, but he is an incredible dog. Ferdinand has done well in play groups with various dogs. He has not been cat tested, so he may be too much for a kitty. Shelter staff in Santa Barbara can be reached at (805) 681-5285
