About Buddy

This is a four year old Mastiff . His name is Buddy and he's a Brindle color with white on his chest. The dog was given to my son and me to help find a home for him. The original owner is moving across country could no longer keep the dog. So we have had him for the past year and a half. I have been taking care of him, since my son had moved and couldn't take him, and now I have moved and cannot take it he dog. We have been taking care of the dog for the last month, running back and forth to the old house to feed and walk him, but his time there has run out . The new owners have been nice enough to let her try to rehome him but now they want to get into the house so he can no longer stay there. I have tried to surrender him at work and Hudson animal shelter but they can't take me until the 27th and that's just for an assessment, after which it could take another two weeks before they're able to take him. He doesn't have that much time left I have to find an immediate placement. I have also been working with Elsmore rescue in Peru New York for the past month also. They still have no room for him. I recently tried another rescue within the past week but they're only want to take them as well . We have done a few meeting greets this so far no luck with that. I'm afraid the dogs gonna be taken and euthanise which we don't want. A little more about the dog, when he was a puppy he was abused and starved that's why my son took him, so there was some trust issues in the beginning. He's been fine with us and there was he knows. He has not been around children because all my great grandchildren are small and I would be afraid of him hurting them/knocking them down just trying to play with them . The same with dogs and cats which I have a small 10lb dog and 2 cats. He would hurt the dog playing with her. He's just to big to take a chance. The dog is very active and playful. He jumps up on you and runs around playing and wanting attention. Once he know and trust you he'll be a very loving friend. He's a big baby and will sit in your lap if he could . He would be best with someone that could handle the dog because of his size and he was willing to spend the time with him. I think he would be better as an only dog/pet and no kids just because he hasn't been around them . The dog just needs a chance,. We don't want him taken and have him euthanised we want to find a home. And as I said the time is up and he needs immediate placement, the new owners would like to get into their home so we can no longer keep the dog there .
