I adopted Norman from an animal shelter in Branson MO. He was found on the side of the road with two siblings. They were estimated to be 3 months old. His siblings were adopted for training in a service dog program. I saw Norman and was immediately moved by his personality, obvious intelligence and desire to learn. I was afraid he would be euthanized If not adopted. Unfortunately, my adult male Bloodhound, Hank was unexpectedly jealous and violently attacked Norman when I was not present. Hank was raised from a puppy with my Fula Brasileiro, Rufus, (since deceased) who was incredibly kind and nurturing to Hank but very leery of anyone outside our family. Hank spent many days in a large pack of dogs at the local daycare when I was working. He did well there's lone and did not attack Norman in that setting. I worked with trainers to try to understand this dynamic. It is thought that both dogs are 'possessive' of me. I had to remove Norman for several months for his own safety. I was hoping that he could be trained to be a service dog. They felt he was too timid. Ultimately, since I retired in January, I decided to bring him back home. I am really attached to this sweet dog. I was hopeful that my being being present and able to spend a lot more active time with Hank and Norman would solve our problems. After 6 months I have come to believe that he will never be able to feel safe in my home due to Hanks continued covert and sometimes overt aggression. This has led me to the painful decision that I need to find a new home for Norman. I am leery of posting this information online as I know there are people who might take him under false pretenses. I am going to try my best to be sure Norman finds a calm, active and loving forever home. If you think you can help please contact me Thank you!!
