Missy 2 Years Old Hearing Impaired Fostered in Long Beach WA Hi, Everyone, it's me, Missy! I'm over here. No, over here. No HERE I am! My foster mom says I'm just a little hyper. I have no idea what she is talking about. I mean, maybe I am a little busy, but I will outgrow it, right?! Until then, I might like a home with patience and boundaries. And oh yeah, did I mention I'm deaf? I'm working on learning really important signs like down, sit and quiet. I do have a tendency to be a little rambunctious, and it's true that I do not read social cues very well yet. It makes it hard for me to hang out with my siblings, because I just want to jump all over them and apparently this is not okay with them. I am learning to walk on leash (this is a big deal you know, because apparently I am not supposed to pick up garbage off the road or jump on people. Lame!) My foster mom says I am both a lot of work and a huge reward at the same time. Foster Mom here: Missy came in to foster with a lot of enthusiasm and not many skills. Her heart is full of love, though. Sadly, she has shown that in her previous life she learned that hands are for hitting and feet are for kicking, so it has taken her a while to develop trust in being petted. She is learning not to be so mouthy (a real challenge) and we are working very hard at not jumping on people or other dogs. In her favor, she is young, has so much love in her heart and is very smart. She is beautiful and sweet and house broken. She has already picked up on our routines and is settling much faster on a daily basis. She can and will crate very nicely, although when she's tired and needs a nap she will sometimes throw a tantrum. She's struggling to see her crate as her happy place, but she will tether in the front yard (since we have no fence) while we're working on projects or entertain herself in our fenced backyard while we're out there working with no issues. She has not chewed up anything, and she is amazing at finding things on the ground and easily gives up what she has found. She takes treats with a soft mouth and will sit for a treat but working on sitting for only a hand signal. She is house trained but not necessarily cat trained. She requires some patience and experience, but she is so young and sweet that it is impossible not to love her. http://bit.ly/WHBRadopt
