About Frisco

Frisco is an amazing almost 9 month old border collie, neutered male. We rescued him at age 10 weeks from an awful situation with his 11 littermates, so not sure of his breeding. He has worked so hard to overcome his lack of trust in people and is coming along so well. He gives us a lot of love at home and likes to please. He is amazing to train and watch execute tricks. He has triggers to strangers and children, however with proper introduction to adults, he warms up and begins to trust them. He is a good worker and wants a job. He loves retrieving the ball, chasing sticks into the lake, and is highly motivated in any training session I do. He has basic obedience such as recall, sit, paw, stay, roll over, nose touch, and seems to enjoy nosework, and beginning to learn disc. He seems to have high food, toy and prey drive. My home is not good for a puppy with his triggers - six teens coming and going with many strangers (friends of kids) and a very dominant shihtzu that barks at him constantly, and I run a large summer camp with many children around. He needs to be with a dog-focused owner who can devote the time to train and work on desensitizing his triggers. I have been working with a trainer from the SPCA who is happy with his progress. He loves to train. Several trainers have said he has so much potential in the right home environment. His aggression is fear based and seems to be predictable with strangers. He is crate trained and likes to walk on his leash. Is not reactive to people or dogs when passing on the sidewalk, as long as people do not directly come into his space. Any adoption fee will go to the SPCA who has been working with me on training and giving us support.
