About Sporty

This cutie is Sporty! He is a 6-year-old, 15.8 pound Beagle mix! Sporty was found as a stray last year. The people who took him in tried to find his family but nobody was located so they hung on to him for a while. However, he never really seemed to find his place there, so they decided to surrender him to the rescue. Sporty is a very friendly, happy boy. He likes everyone he meets right away. No one is a stranger! He loves to jump in your lap and snuggle up next to you and get lots of pets and attention. He's a bouncy boy who will hop up and down in front of you when he wants your attention, and he can leap straight up into your arms. Sporty generally gets along well with other dogs, but he does like his own space and the attention for himself, and he can be grumbly with other dogs at times. He has never bitten one of them or been overly aggressive, he just gives a simple warning growl to back off if he feels crowded. He would likely prefer to be an only dog in the home getting all the love and attention for himself! He is well behaved in the house, is housebroken, and walks well on a leash, but he should have a fenced yard. He has good energy and likes to play with toys. He does fetch, sit and stay with hand commands. Sporty sleeps snuggled up in the big bed at night. His prior mom said that he would growl (and once bit) when she moved him when he was sleeping. He only displayed this behavior with her at night, and was perfectly fine with her husband, who he was really attached to. We don't know if he was just startled or if he simply claimed his spot and did not want to give it up, but he has not displayed this behavior in his foster home. He curls up between his foster parents and sleeps all night. Sporty does not like to be alone, and has that lovely little Beagle howl, so he would not be suitable for an apartment or a condo. He has a great little personality and is looking for someone he can absolutely adore, and who will adore him in return. Once you meet him you can't help but fall in love with this outgoing friendly pup! He is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He will be heartworm tested, and have a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shot too. If you are looking for a fun, loving and loyal companion, Sporty might just be the perfect one for you!
