About Pozole

My name is Pozole. I am almost 5 years old, spayed, healthy, current on vaccs, on heartworm prevention, housetrained with an occasional accident, and even have my own insurance plan. I am loved very much in my home. My parents are awesome, but the other dogs in my house are NOT. I do not like other dogs AT ALL. I can not under any circumstances be part of a multi-dog home. I know a lot of tricks and am super smart. I have competed in agility and made it up to the highest levels, but I don't like it. I did it to earn cookies. I love cookies, but the competition environment was stressful for me and I would lunge at other dogs. Living in a home with other dogs being constantly separated is very stressful for me too. Occasionally, I liked to compete, but have decided that I don't want to be a performance dog and living in a performance home is stressful. I would prefer; no, I MUST have a home where I am the only dog. A home where there is absolutely no intention of getting another dog...EVER. Dog parks are out of the question. So is staying with a relative or friend of yours while you're out of town that has dogs. I don't care how nice the other dog is or how much experience people have with introductions, etc. NO OTHER DOGS for me. I don't like cats either. Children are a no as well! I don't like loud noises and I'm scared to death of fireworks. I'd like a home where I am the center of attention, with walks and hanging out in the yard with my people. I am not a big cuddler. I really like attention when I want it and then I'm happy to quietly lay down near you, or often to go find my own quiet place. Bathrooms are my favorite. I can be picky about being touched. I don't like to be surprised while sleeping and I don't like to be petted in my lower back sometimes. I get growly, but would never bite you. I just want you away from my rear end. I like to go for walks, do well on a leash, am crate trained and must ride in a crate at all times when travelling. I have the most adorable little corgi butt with furry feathers. BUT...sometimes, well, a girl needs help cleaning those beautiful feathers up after pooping. What can I say! Speaking of poop, I do eat poop. My own as well, so but you'll need to pick it up right away anyway. My nails must be done every couple weeks or so. And being the special girl that I am, they shouldn't be clipped. They need to be Dremelled. My people can teach you how to do this and there are tutorial videos on the internet. You must be very careful about this method, but it is safer than quiking my nails with clippers and I am used to this method. In fact, my mom and dad have the perfect system to do this. I've been eating a very high quality diet (Orijen) my whole life for optimum health and nutrition. You should be prepared to continue the brand I am on which is about $90 per bag. My tummy does best on this brand and the quality of this food is among the very best. It is so important for my health that I maintain a healthy weight. The weight I am now. I eat twice per day with specific amounts. I also have healthy snacks with very few tidbits of my people's dinner. I'd like more, but to keep me trim I have my people limit me. My Trupanion insurance is $50 per month and is transferable. How I should live: I have a great home now. I'm loved and well cared for but the other dogs stress me out and I am unpredictable and cause fights. So, again -- no other dogs. I like to spend some time outside in the mornings in the summer when it's cool and I need to be inside during the afternoons when it's hot. I like outside and being outside with my people, BUT I am an inside dog. My people have a bench that goes at the end of the bed so that I don't have to jump off the side. It's important that your bed not be too high for me. My legs are short and it could be dangerous. I'm not crazy about sleeping in bed next to anyone anyway. I like coming up in the morning to greet you, mostly to get you out of bed to feed me. I'm a very sweet happy girl that loves to do small tricks for a cookie. I'm a little persnickety in ways, but not difficult. In fact, I'm very easy once the details are attended to. I'm pretty much the perfect dog for a retired or semi-retired home that is dog savvy, wants only one dog and is not interested in doggy socialization activities. I am not free nor do I have a low cost adoption fee. In fact, it's probably hard to get me because my parents will be picky about finding my perfect home. They will want to see photos videos of your house, be assured that you don't have or ever want another dog as long as you have me and get to know you and how I would be part of your home, and if you can afford the very best care for me.
