About Embers

I'm looking for a home that is quiet and safe. I am 13-15lbs and I was found in a breeder situation, filthy, neglected and sent to a shelter to find a better life. For the first time I met many humans there. I was use to being kept in a small space, not much bigger than a rabbit hutch, so larger areas intimidate me. I'm older closer to 7 maybe more. I was spayed, teeth cleaned at least what was left of them by a vet. I was updated on all my vaccines and have been trying to figure out who I am and how to dog. I am frightened easily as I was rarely if ever exposed to the world. I have been slow, but I have learned that I like my crate, and food. I have been in foster care since the end of October. It's been difficult for me to find my Joy but my foster mom is always trying to help me. I can walk on leash using a Martingale collar because if given an opportunity I would escape and keep running. That's why we only practice being on a leash in the back yard. I would like a fence I could not climb over or see through because sights and sounds can send me into a panic. I am crate trained, and must go outdoors when let out so I can go potty. I piddle pee if a feel panicked. I don't like to be held but I will tolerate it. I really want to be a dog but I just don't know how. I'd like to find a quiet place just like me, so I can continue to learn and live out my days. I'm most comfortable when you don't stare at me and I can follow you at a distance. I will need patience and I get scared if you talk loud. I'd like Someone willing to learn dog body language. I've not found any dogs who I like to hang with so another dog is not necessary. I tend to ignore them. If I haven't scared you away and you want to rescue a neglected senior. I'm your gal. (Embers is up-to-date on her vaccinations and has been spayed. She is best in a home without small children and is not suitable in an apartment, condo or other urban setting. Embers is currently being fostered in Woodbridge, VA.
