About AUSTIN

'AUSTIN' is a handsome, 1.5-2 yr old; 74 lb. German Shepherd male that we rescued from a very high kill dog pound. Austin had been extremely neglected and malnourished. Austin is a very nice, affectionate boy who warms up quickly to people. Extremely sweet, kind of heart, eager to please and bond, he is obviously very praise driven. (He also loves his 'treats!') Austin is a naive 'innocent' boy who lacks confidence, so he must have a more confident resident dog as companion so Austin can continue to blossom and gain confidence over time. (Austin is a follower, not a leader). Austin loves the company of other equally good-natured, kind dogs. He loves to run and play with them and have the stress-free luxury of just being a silly, young dog for the first time. (His best pal in rescue is 'Annie'). Austin's ideal home would be one with a calm, gentle and confident owner, in a quieter home with a companion dog and where he is not alone for long during the day. Austin would also need a fenced in yard. We presume he would be good with children but we recommend pre-teen age year old kids as most optimal. Austin has not been cats tested, nor are we aware how he is with very small dogs. Austin is neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, on monthly heart-worm preventative, crate-trained and house-trained. This rescue does not do it's own 'shots' ... all medical care is done by a licensed, certified Veterinarian or done under their direct supervision (ex., monthly heartworm treatments &/or deworming). All of our rescued dogs have been on a nutritional regime which includes high quality food and supplements (ex., probiotics; vitamins, etc). This is done to bolster their immune systems and overall health; the result benefits their adoptive family with a pooch who has a lustrous coat, bright shiny eyes, and happy and healthy disposition.
