About Pepe

Meet our brave survivor, Pepe. He is a male Chinese Crested mix, approximately 6-7 years old, and 15 lbs. Pepe was a former puppy mill dog that now enjoys freedom and love. He is a unique character and can be very silly! For example, when he wants attention from a person or another dog, he will sit up on his hind legs and do the 'Pepe wave' with his front paws. He loves attention and will stand on his hind legs for pets and equally enjoys belly rubs. You will know Pepe is excited to see you because he will jump and dance around and wag his tail. However, Pepe does not seem to enjoy being picked up. Pepe is comfortable around dogs of all sizes, and is fine with cats but tends to avoid them if possible. In fact, Pepe is so comfortable around dogs that when he is in a room full of unfamiliar dogs he struts around like he owns the place. Sometimes he does try to assert dominance but he is not a fighter and is generally passive. It is important to note that when Pepe is uncomfortable he tends to go stiff. He can be skittish around new people and loud voices, especially male voices, and sudden movements will send him scampering, but he does well during storms and fireworks. Pepe is housebroken, but he tends to mark, therefore, he often wears a wrap. It is imperative that his adopter understand what Pepe has been through and be patient and empathetic as his first few years of life were spent mostly in a cage filled with other dogs. Pepe's adoption fee is $400 and includes his is neuter, vaccinations, microchip and he recently had a dental.
