About Benji

I am looking to rehome my four and a half year old Australian Shepard mix ( born 12/24/16). My husband and I both work full time and recently had a baby and feel we do not have the time to give the dog as much attention as he needs. On top of that we will be moving into an apartment for a short time before relocating and will be losing the space we currently have for the dog. Australian Shepard's are herding dogs, that means they have a lot of energy and need a fair amount of exercise. Benji loves to play fetch and run around the backyard in circles (like he is herding) We found out last summer that Benji has a severe flea allergy and needs to be on flea medication all year. We currently have him on a monthly dose of simparica which has worked well for him. He does shed and I currently get him groomed once every 3 to 6 months. Benji seems be okay around kids, but we have him in one large area of the house with baby gates up, therefore he has not spent a lot of one on one time with children (our baby is less than a year) so I am not sure how he would be around a family with kids full time. I am not saying he will not do well around kids, I just honestly do not know. Thank you for your consideration.
