About Mochie

Any Chow lovers in the Dog Nation?? This beautiful girl might be the one for you! Mochie is an 11 month old, 43.5 pound Chow! She came to us with a group of dogs when their owner became unable to care for them. She is not our normal type of dog, but her owner is a former foster and we were happy to help when asked! At first Mochie wasn't so sure of her foster mom, and it took her a couple of days to feel comfortable in her new environment. Once she knows you and trusts you she is a very good girl, but she may be aloof at first, which is a typical Chow trait. Chows are known for being independent, but very loyal to their people. And Mochie is no exception! She can be apprehensive with strangers, or with people who approach her suddenly. She loves her foster dad but will still grumble when he comes home from work. Sometimes she will give a low warning growl if she wants you to back off, and then she will come to you on her terms. But other times she will come right up to strangers of her own accord and give them a friendly lick hello! Mochie gets along well with dogs big and small. She is friendly and casually playful and likes having furbuddies, but would probably be ok as an only dog too. She seems to be housebroken, rides well in a car, and is good on a leash. A fenced yard would be best for her, and that is what we are looking for. She should not go to a home with kids. We are not sure how she would be with cats. At night Mochie sleeps in a dog bed in the bedroom. Chows have beautiful thick fur and do need to be brushed and/or groomed regularly, and Mochie will allow a nice brushing after she knows you. She has been to the vet for a wellness check, is up to date on shots, spayed, heartworm tested, has had a 12 month ProHeart heartworm prevention shots, and is microchipped with a lifetime registration. Mochie is a very sweet girl, but you should be familiar with the breed and give her time to know you. Once she does, you will have yourself a loving companion.
