About Starla

Adoption Fee: $350
Australian Cattle Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Are you looking for a new best friend who is sweet, intelligent, and will always want to cuddle? Then Starla would be the perfect match because she is an absolute cuddle-bug! Things Starla likes: sitting by you indoors, sitting by you outdoors, occasionally chasing squirrels, periodic zoomies, walks, chasing a ball and sometimes bringing it back to you, and treats! Starla quickly settled in to her foster home and bonded with her foster humans, but is now looking for her forever home. She is a medium-energy heeler who occasionally gets the zoomies in the backyard, but also enjoys lots of relaxation and cuddling. She is housebroken, and working on crate training, but she happily sleeps in her crate each night and is learning that the crate is her safe space. Starla is highly intelligent, knows basic commands, and is quickly learning more. Starla's ideal home would be with people who are somewhat active, have no young children (older than 10 would be best), and breed experience. Starla is a true heeler and can become a little mouthy and jumpy when excited, which isn't ideal for young children. A fenced-in yard would be great, but isn't necessary as long as Starla is able to get lots of walks each day! Starla has a more dominant personality and does want to be the 'top dog.' For this reason, she will need an experienced and firm heeler owner who will be able to provide the boundaries that she needs. Starla should be the only dog in her new home. She walks well on a leash and has improved a lot over the last couple weeks, but a prospective adopter should plan to continue working with her on her leash manners. Starla is such a sweetheart and truly deserves a home where she can have her humans all to herself! Starla is about 4 years old, 31 pounds, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations and heartworm preventative. She is currently being fostered in St. Augustine, Florida.
