About Gracie & Mercy

Adoption Fee: $500
Dachshund
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Gracie and Mercy are calm bonded girls looking for a forever home to call their very own. Gracie is 17 pounds and about 6 years old and Mercy is 14 pounds and about 11 years old. These gorgeous girls need to loose a couple of pounds and are working on this with their foster mom in Alabama. Gracie and Mercy are ideally looking for a home with at least one other dog and preferably a dachshund as doxies due tend to love other doxies. Gracie and Mercy are wonderful girls! They get along well with people of all ages, other dogs and cats too. Sometimes Gracie finds large dogs a bit intimidating. Gracie is quite playful and loves to play with squeaky toys. Both girls are submissive in their personalities. Gracie does have separation anxiety and the girls would like a home where their people were home with them most of the time. Before coming into rescue, the girls were in a home where they were rarely alone. Gracie and Mercy would like a home where they can sleep in the big bed with their people. That would make them SO happy! They find a spot for the night and will sleep the entire night. Both Gracie and Mercy love to go for car rides. They are happy to be where their people are. They both walk well on a leash. Mercy and Gracie are very loving and love to snuggle with their people. They are very low maintenance and well mannered. Mercy, like many dachshunds, does bark. She doesn't bark at sounds, but rather barks for attention and to let you know when she wants something (like your attention!) Mercy also sucks on blankets to cope with anxiety. She seems to get overexcited. She'll suck on a blanket when she's overwhelmed to calm down and often to put herself to sleep. Gracie takes some time to warm up to people and can be reserved and hesitant until she is confident with her surroundings. Gracie came into our rescue with dental disease and we have done major dental work for her which meant she lost 14 teeth. Unfortunately, her dental care was neglected for some time and caused this extensive decay. Gracie's mouth may require more attention in the future. Mercy has some 'lumps and bumps' from old age. A fun and interesting fact about these lovely girls. Mercy really loves men! She is absolutely obsessed with men, and any man she meets she just adores them. Gracie is a woman's dog and is much more comfortable with women than with men, although she warms to men and becomes loving. Mercy absolutely loves to sunbathe especially out in the grass. These loving and wonderful girls are waiting for their forever home. Are you the lucky one? Apply to adopt them today!
